GSNorCal is partnering with Leanln.Org—the nonprofit organization founded by Sheryl Sandberg—to launch Lean In Circles for our volunteers, and you’re invited to join us!
Announcing GSNorCal’s Lean In Circles!
We’ve heard from you, our volunteers, that you want more opportunities to find connection and support with other Girl Scout volunteers. That’s why we’re excited to launch Lean In Circles—a space where GSNorCal volunteers can come together in small groups across volunteer roles and around the council to create community, give and get peer-to-peer mentorship, find support, and build new skills with a world-class leadership curriculum.
Lean In Circles are tailored for women but beneficial for all. Your Circle can provide a space to discuss topics that mean most to you and fellow members—whether that be building leadership skills, navigating bias, or taking concrete steps to advance your career.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are Lean in Circles?
Small groups – A Lean In Circle is a group of 6-8 GSNorCal volunteers designed to foster connection, growth, and belonging. With easy-to-use resources, any volunteer can lead a Circle, creating a scalable, inclusive program that empowers volunteers across the council to thrive together.
Monthly meetings – virtual or in-person – Circles meet monthly for 60 minutes, often virtually, helping volunteers connect and build networks around the council.
Community, peer mentorship, skill building – Circles offer a safe space to share challenges, explore solutions, and learn together. Lean In’s resources, such as the Women at Work Collection, help members build skills, navigate bias, and grow.
