The Importance of Showing Appreciation
Everyday little things go a long way. From a card from a Girl Scout youth, to handmade gifts or photo keepsakes—these are special ways to say thank you and oftentimes mean the most. We want our volunteers to feel recognized and valued. Showing volunteers you care can boost confidence, camaraderie, and can deepen connections between Girl Scouts, volunteers, and families.
When and How to Recognize
Informal recognitions are often made on Girl Scout holidays including National Volunteer Month and Girl Scout Leader’s Day (April 22), at service unit meetings, at troop meetings, or anytime you feel someone deserves to be seen!
Formal recognitions can be made at a special recognition event, or immediately following services rendered.

April 22 is Girl Scout Leader’s Day and honors all the volunteers who work as leaders and mentors in partnership with girls and youth. Girls, their families, and communities should find a special way to thank their adult Girl Scout volunteers.
