Extended-Year membership offers new youth and adult members registering later in the Girl Scout membership year the chance to purchase up to 18 months of Girl Scout membership at a discounted price to begin their Girl Scout experience!
Who can register with an extended-year membership?
This membership deal is available for NEW youth and adults. The price includes membership for the remainder of the current membership year (from the date of purchase through September 30th) as well as the entire next membership year (from October 1st through September 30th of the following year).
When can I purchase the extended-year membership?
You can purchase the extended-year membership from April 1st through July 31st annually.
Can current members purchase extended-year memberships?
No – existing members already have a current year membership so there is no need to purchase an overlapping membership. Existing members should renew their membership instead.
Is this membership available to adults?
Yes, new adults can also purchase an extended-year membership.
How long will a youth or adult who purchases an extended-year membership be a member?
They will be a member for the remaining months of the current membership year as well as the entire next membership year.
Is there a difference between an extended-year membership and a regular membership?
No, there is no difference! Girl Scouts and adults registered under an extended-year membership are members just like any other. Extended-year members can experience everything Girl Scouts has to offer, including the options to join a troop, go to camp, attend service unit/council-sponsored events, and more.
Is financial assistance offered for this membership?
Yes, financial aid is available for families in need for extended-year memberships.
Can pre-K youth join with an extended year membership?
Yes, pre-K youth starting Kindergarten in the fall can begin participating with an extended year membership from April 1st.
Can a lapsed member purchase an extended year membership?
If a former Girl Scout’s membership has lapsed and they are not a member for the current year, but they have a Girl Scout account on myGS, they are not eligible to purchase an extended year membership. Lapsed members may purchase an annual membership for the current membership year at any time, or for the upcoming membership year from August 1st.
