Note: The Girl Scout Experience Box program has ended for the current membership year. We will begin registering troops into the program starting April 1st 2026 for the next membership year. Boxes will begin shipping to qualified troops in August 2026.

This Help Center article is an FAQ for the Girl Scout Experience Box program. For complete program details, including box contents, visit the Girl Scout Experience Box page on our website.
What is a Girl Scout Experience Box?
A monthly supply box shipped throughout the year, packed with supplies, instructions, and printables to make planning and running meetings a piece of cake! Boxes are available in either English or bilingual (English/Spanish) versions.
Who can receive the boxes?
Every new Daisy (K-1) and Brownie (2-3) troop starting between April 2026, and January 2027 which requests to opt in to the experience box program will be automatically signed up to receive the boxes once they have 4 or more youth members registered and at least 1 eligible adult volunteer with a 2027 membership.
New multi-level troops which welcome at least 4 Daisy and/or 4 Brownie members* will also receive the boxes.
*Note that materials will only be provided for the youth members in the relevant program level.
I started a new troop – how do I opt in?
All new troop leaders/admins will be invited to a welcome session with a staff member. During this session, they will ask for some additional troop details, discuss the experience box program, and opt your troop in if requested. If you did not attend a welcome session, you can provide those additional details and opt in via the Troop Update Form.
Can I get the boxes if my troop started before April 1st, 2026?
In order to ensure we use our resources wisely, we will not automatically ship boxes to troops which start prior to April 1st. However, if you’re sure you’ll put the supplies to good use, you’re welcome to opt-in if your troop has 1 eligible adult volunteer with a 2027 membership, and meets one of the following criteria:
- New troop with 4 or more Daisy and/or Brownie members starting between January and March 2026 which did not receive experience boxes during the previous year.
- Existing troop adding 4+ new Daisies and/or 4+ new Brownies after April 1st, 2026.
- Existing troops with 4 or more bridging Daisies (entering 2nd grade) who have not previously received the Brownie Experience Box.
How many boxes will I receive?
This depends on when your troop meets the criteria! New troops must have 4 or more registered members and at least 1 registered (for 2027) and background checked volunteer before the boxes will begin shipping. All troops will receive a welcome box followed by up to 7 additional boxes shipped monthly throughout the year. In order to receive all 8 boxes, troops must meet the eligibility requirements by October 5th, 2026.
Is my troop required to participate?
We definitely want to make sure that troops receiving the boxes will put them to good use, so if you decide you do not want to participate just let us know by emailing info@gsnorcal.org
Where will the boxes be delivered?
Boxes will be shipped directly to the address of the person requesting the boxes on the Troop Update Form or Experience Box Opt-In Form. If you need to change the address for shipments, please email info@gsnorcal.org.
What should I do with my troop while I wait for the first box to arrive?
Browse activities and patch programs, or sign up for a GSNorCal event!
How many Girl Scouts will I receive supplies for? What if I add more Girl Scouts to my troop?
Each box contains enough supplies to serve all eligible Girl Scouts in your troop (i.e. registered Girl Scouts at the relevant program level), and likely some extra supplies you can save for future meetings. Troop registration counts are updated with each shipment, so you’ll have enough supplies as your troop grows.
Are the badges included?
No, the badges and petals earned are not included in the box. They can be purchased from our retail store, either online or in-person.
Can I skip a box or change the order in which I receive them?
No, we’re not able to change the order in which you receive your boxes. You may, however, choose to use them in a different order, add other programming your Girl Scouts are interested in, or wait to use a box at a different time of year.
I missed a couple of boxes because my troop started after they began shipping. Can I still get the boxes I missed?
We are not able to provide boxes that were shipped earlier in the year. Please refer to the Volunteer Toolkit, or reach out to us, for help planning meetings for petals/badges you missed.
What if I need to change my shipping address?
Please contact info@gnsorcal.org.
I haven’t received my boxes. What do I do?
Please contact info@gsnorcal.org.
Are there Experience Boxes for Juniors?
Yes! Junior troops have the opportunity to receive an experience box this year – this is a one-time only box, shipping later this summer, which will contain activity supplies for 2 badges and an additional fun patch activity. Visit GSUSA’s Junior Experience Box webpage for more information about what’s included and how to receive the box!
How do I opt in for Junior boxes?
Your troop needs to renew at least 4 youth members and 1 adult for the next membership year to be eligible for the box. Supplies are limited and boxes will be offered on a first come, first served basis. Once your troop meets eligibility requirements, if supplies are still available, you will receive an email from GSUSA inviting you to register to receive the box. Renew early and keep an eye on your email!
Which badges are covered in the Junior Experience Box?
Materials and instructions are provided for the Uniquely Us and Digital Leadership badges. If your troop has already earned these badges, the Junior Experience Box may not be the right choice for you.
