New for the 2026-2027 membership year is the Girl Scout Club, a staff-led troop experience where we’ve made participation easy for families! The Girl Scout Club is currently serving youth in San Jose and Fremont areas. Our trained staff will lead every meeting, plan every activity, and handle the details. Simply drop off your Girl Scout so they can build skills, make new friends, and have fun in a safe, supportive environment.
Girl Scouts offers hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and confidence. As a Girl Scout, they will make new friends, discover new interests, and enjoy fun activities-all supported by our trained staff to help her build lifelong skills to thrive!
In Girl Scouts, they will develop the following outcomes to thrive today and tomorrow:

The Girl Scout journey can start as early as pre-kindergarten and through 12th grade in high school. Our program grows with our Girl Scouts so that they are having fun whatever grade they are in. Here’s some testimonials from our Girl Scouts:

What is Girl Scout Club: Staff-Led Troop?
It is a Girl Scout troop that is led by Girl Scouts of Northern California (GSNorCal) staff who are trained in youth development in delivering quality programmatic experiences to youth.
Is the Girl Scout Club the same as other Girl Scout troops?
Yes, it is the same as other Girl Scout troops except that these troops are led by our GSNorCal staff. They will have the same experience of doing fun activities, making new friends, earning badges, etc. Whereas other Girl Scout troops are run by volunteers and these troops typically require parent/caregivers to volunteer their time to help run the troop meetings.
In a Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troop, the staff will plan and coordinate all the activities for every meeting. Parents/caregivers simply drop off their child at the designated time and location of the troop meetings.
Where are the Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troops available?
Currently, we have them available in Fremont and San Jose.
Do I have to live in Fremont or San Jose to join the Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troop in Fremont or San Jose?
No, it is not required that you live in Fremont or San Jose to join either of these troops. However, the troop meetings will take place in Fremont and San Jose.
What grade level are they open to?
Troops are open to 2nd-3rd graders and 4th-5th graders.
At each location, we will have a Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troops for 2nd-3rd graders (Brownie Troop) and 4th-5th graders (Junior Troop).
When and how often do these troops meet?
2 times per month, every other week on Sundays.
How much does it cost to join one of these troops?
$90 Annual Girl Scout Youth Membership fee plus $120*/month. *Plus, uniform fees, field trip fees.
Membership fee payment will be made on MyGS, monthly fee payment will be made on ActiveNet. (Further instructions will be sent via email.)
Is Financial Assistance available?
Yes, Girl Scouts of Northern California welcomes members in any financial situation. Both new and returning youth members can apply for membership dues and troop dues
Youth Annual Membership Dues: Caregivers can request financial aid for Youth Annual Membership Dues when they complete their registration from their MyGS account, no questions asked.
Monthly Troop Dues: Monthly troop dues are eligible for financial assistance by submitting the Prog_Event_Financial_Aid_Application. Please enter “Girl Scout Club” in the program field when prompted.
Can I drop off my child, or do I need to stay for the duration of the troop meeting?
You can drop off your child and return at the designated pickup time. We ask that parents/caregivers arrive on time for pickup.
What will my child be doing in the Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troop?
Every session is planned with thought and care to ensure that your child will have lots of fun, learn something new while making new friends. We will be covering topics in STEAM, Life skills, Entrepreneurship and Outdoors.
I have a child in 3rd grade and another child in 4th grade. Can they be in the same troop?
Your 3rd grader would be placed in the Brownie Troop for 2nd-3rd graders, and your 4th grader would be placed in the Junior Troop for 4th-5th graders. So, they would not be in the same Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troop. We have curriculum and activities planned for these 2 age groups that are different and appropriate for their grade levels.
If you would like to have your children to be in the same troop, please explore the troop catalog and look for a volunteer-led multi-level troop that is accepting youth in 3rd and 4th grade.
What if our schedule changes and the troop meeting time does not work for us anymore?
It is possible to change to a different Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led troop that meets your scheduling needs.
What happens when my child misses a troop meeting?
At the next troop meeting, your child will receive some take-home materials to catch up on the missed activities.
If we decide that we do not want to continue with the Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troop, what do I need to do?
To withdraw from the Girl Scout Club, Staff-Led Troop, written notice must be submitted to info@gsnorcal.org at least 7 days before your next scheduled payment date, which is the 1st of every month. Requests received less than 7 days before your next scheduled payment date may not be eligible for a cancellation of the upcoming month’s program fee.
