We created a learning path for each volunteer role, which has all the required training for that role. We also have several course learning paths for volunteers to learn more about various Girl Scout topics and skills. 

Service Unit Role Learning Paths
Learning Path: 636 Event Manager

Learning Path for Event Managers. This Learning Path is required for volunteers running events where the person is responsible for the planning and implementation of the event and for the well-being of the participants. Learn to successfully plan and deliver a Girl Scout event for your service unit or the council. We are currently in the process of updating this learning path. Although the content in this Learning Path is still relevant, many resources and resource locations have changed. View the Event Manager Overview module for access to all the latest Event Manager resources.
Learning Path: 636 Recognition Coordinator

The role of Recognition Coordinators ensures that volunteer appreciation happens in their service unit.  They educate volunteers on the adult recognition process and both promote and facilitate the nomination of outstanding volunteers for service unit, council, and national awards.  They can also organize local recognition ceremonies or appreciation opportunities.

Learning Path: 636 Service Unit Cookie Program Advisor

2025 Girl Scout Cookie Program training for Service Unit Cookie Program Advisors. This learning path is required to gain access to Smart Cookie and other Girl Scout Cookie Program resources.  Service Unit Cookie Program Advisors who attended the live webinar on November 20, 2024, will receive credit for the 2025 Service Unit Cookie Program Advisor Training. If you missed the live session, you must watch the recording. Learning Path: 636 Service Unit Fall Product Program Advisor

Learning Path: 636 Service Unit Recruiter

Learning Series Service Unit volunteers play a key role in supporting the mission of Girl Scouting in their local community. Recruiters can spread the message of Girl Scouts to local schools and organizations and speak in a way that the council can’t- with the voice of a member of the community. Providing support and detailed training to these volunteers will effectively prepare them to speak about the importance of Girl Scouting while providing councils with on-the-ground support for recruitment efforts.

Learning Path: 636 Event First Aider
 
This Learning Path is for Event First Aiders. As a progression above Troop First First Aider, Event First Aiders attend troop and service unit events. They work closely with the Event Manager to ensure the safety of all attendees.

This learning path is required for Experienced Troop Cookie Chairs and is required to gain access to Smart Cookie and other Girl Scout Cookie Program resources.  *Note, this learning path is only available to registered Troop Cookie Chairs.

This Learning Path is for troop leaders and adults of Girl Scouts who are interested in earning the Highest Award for their program level. The courses in this learning path give you the knowledge to support your Girl Scouts in making a lasting impact to change the world.

This Learning Path is for New Co-Op Troop Program Coordinators. The courses in this learning path with give you the knowledge to work collaboratively with your fellow troop leaders to provide program mentorship.

Learning Path for New Troop Leaders, Option 1: self-paced online modules. This learning path will prepare new troop leaders of new troops and new troop leaders who are taking over the leadership of existing troops. Courses in this learning path include GSNorCal Mandated Reporter, GSUSA New Leader Onboarding: Your First Troop Meeting, GSUSA New Leader Onboarding: Family Engagement-The Key to Success, GSUSA Delivering Inclusive Program, 636 Getting Started as a New Troop Leader.
Learning Path: 636 New Troop Leader or Troop Admin – Option 2: Live Webinar

Learning Path for New Troop Leaders or Troop Admin, Option 2: Live Webinar. This learning path will prepare new troop leaders of new troops and new troop leaders who are taking over the leadership of existing troops. Courses in this learning path include GSNorCal Mandated Reporter and 636 New Troop Leader Live Webinar Course Option where you can register for the live webinar. The webinar lasts about 2.5 hours, it includes break times and a Q&A session. This live webinar course can be taken in lieu of completing the 636 New Troop Leader – Option 1: Online Modules, you are not expected to complete both training styles offered.
Learning Path: 636 Trip & Outdoor Advisor

This Learning Path is for Troop Leaders and Trip & Outdoor Advisors, who are ready to take their troop out of the meeting place. The courses in this learning path will support you with planning for trips and outdoor activities while ensuring the safety of your Girl Scouts. Please be sure to submit the Trip or High-Adventure Approval form before any non-refundable plans are made and at least:2 weeks before local and in-state trips and events6-12 weeks before out-of-state trips and events6-12 months before international trips and eventsAll required trainings must be completed before trips and events will receive approval.

This Learning Path is for adult volunteers who hope to support and accompany Girl Scout troops as they explore their world. The courses in this learning path will give you the information you need to support your troop leader and ensure that your Girl Scouts are safe and have the best possible experience. Please be sure to submit the Trip or High-Adventure Approval form before any non-refundable plans are made and at least:2 weeks before local and in-state trips and events6-12 weeks before out-of-state trips and events6-12 months before international trips and eventsAll required trainings must be completed before trips and events will receive approval.
636 New Troop Cookie Chair 2025

This learning path is required for NEW Troop Cookie Chairs and is required to gain access to Smart Cookies and other Girl Scout Cookie Program resources.  *Note, this learning path is only available to registered Troop Cookie Chairs.
Learning Path: 636 Troop Driver

This Learning Path is for volunteers who will transport Girl Scouts to Troop Activities and Events. As the Troop Driver, you will be responsible for getting youth and adults to and from the meeting place locations and outings. Note: Troop drivers must be 21 or older, have a valid driver’s license, and have a registered, insured vehicle that is in good working condition with the required number of seat belts for all passengers. 
Learning Path: 636 Troop First Aider

This Learning Path is for adult volunteers who would like to be the Troop First Aider. Troop First Aiders are needed for troop/group activities, as required for certain Safety Activity Checkpoints, including troop camping, travel, and high-adventure activities.
Learning Path: 636 Troop Treasurer

This ​Learning Path for volunteers in the Troop Treasurer Role. Learn how to manage troop finances, open your troop bank account, collect payments, and support money-earning projects.
Learning Path: 636 Wilderness First Aider

This ​Learning Path is for volunteers who would like the role of a Wilderness First Aid (WFA) or Wilderness First Responder (WFR). Which is required of at least one adult when Girl Scouts are participating in activities or events located more than 30 minutes away from Emergency Medical Services.

Learning Path: GSUSA Girl Scout Astronomy Club Training

This Learning Path will give you a solid foundation to plan and manage your astronomy club. You’ll discover how to build your development plan and curriculum and lead activities for Girl Scouts of all ages, as well as learn best practices in several important areas: outreach, communication, engagement, and running meetings and events. This girl and adult training is part of the larger “Reaching for the Stars: NASA Science for Girl Scouts” program.
