Golden Gate Bridging is a special celebration for 5th-grade Juniors bridging to Cadettes and older Girl Scouts. Join thousands of Girl Scouts and volunteers from Northern California and across the country as we walk across the Golden Gate Bridge and celebrate at Crissy Field.

Registration and payment must be completed online through ActiveNet.
GSNorCal members must have an ActiveNet account to register. Out-of-council Girl Scouts will need to request an ActiveNet account before registering.

Bridge + Field Registration
Bridge + Field registration includes:
- Shuttle service to Marin Vista Point
- Golden Gate Bridge crossing
- Golden Gate Bridging pin and patch
- Crissy Field celebration
Bridge + Field registration is for 5th-grade bridging Juniors, Girl Scouts in grades 6–12 who missed their bridging years, and registered adult Girl Scout members attending to meet troop ratios.
Field Only Registration
Field Only registration provides access to the Crissy Field celebration without the bridge walk.
Field Only includes the Crissy Field festivities, including music, crafts, games, and activity booths.
Field Only does not include shuttle service to Marin Vista Point, the bridge walk, or the Golden Gate Bridging pin and patch.
Field Only registration is available for families, siblings, and Girl Scouts who wish to participate only in the celebration at Crissy Field.
Participant Guidelines and Ratios
This event is for 5th-grade bridging Juniors and 6th–12th grade Girl Scouts, including Girl Scouts whose bridging year occurred when Golden Gate Bridging was not offered or who were unable to attend during their bridging year for other reasons.
Active adult Girl Scout members may attend to meet required troop ratios. Every person attending the event is considered a participant and must register and pay the full event fee. There is no free viewing area for this event. Family members and friends who are not registered participants should not join your group at the event.
Adult-to-Youth Supervision Ratios
Juniors — Grade 5
- 1–16 youth: 2 adults
- 17–24 youth: 3 adults
Cadettes — Grades 6–8
- 1–20 youth: 2 adults
- 21–30 youth: 3 adults
Seniors — Grades 9–10
- 1–24 youth: 2 adults
- 25–36 youth: 3 adults
Ambassadors — Grades 11–12
- 1–24 youth: 2 adults
- 25–36 youth: 3 adults
These are the minimum required ratios. Troops may bring additional registered adult Girl Scout members as desired.
All attendees, including adults, must register and pay the full event fee.
Travel and Where to Stay
San Francisco is an international tourist destination with many resources available online to help you plan your trip. We recommend waiting until you have successfully registered for Golden Gate Bridging before booking travel or accommodations in case the event sells out.
Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf
A special discounted rate has been arranged for Golden Gate Bridging attendees at the Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf.
Reservations must be made by Sunday, March 28, 2027. Rooms are subject to availability, and the discounted rate may no longer be available once the hotel reaches capacity.
Please refer to the Hotel Reservation Guide for booking instructions and the corporate code.
Shuttle service will be available from near the hotel to transport participants to the Golden Gate Bridge for the bridge walk.
Camp Bothin
GSNorCal members will have the option to stay at Camp Bothin in Fairfax through a hostel-style lodging experience.
Separate registration through ActiveNet is required.
Check-In
Check-in will be available on the day of the event as well as several days before the event.
All troops have the option to check in ahead of time at their convenience. We strongly encourage troops to check in prior to the event to save time on the day of the event.
Information about early check-in dates, times, and locations will be included in the Adventure Packet.
Arrival and Parking
Due to very limited parking, troops are strongly encouraged to carpool or take public transportation.
Parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and a parking space cannot be guaranteed.
Troops may arrive by car, taxi/rideshare, public transportation, or bus.
Shuttles
Shuttles to Marin Vista Point will depart every 15–25 minutes from:
- Palace of Fine Arts Parking Lot
- Marina Middle School
- Near Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf
Shuttle service is included with Bridge + Field registration only.
Please do not park at Marin Vista Point.
Participants should plan for possible morning traffic and delays, as most attendees arrive around the same time.
The Walk
Upon arrival at Marin Vista Point, participants will walk southbound across the Golden Gate Bridge on the San Francisco side of the bridge using the east sidewalk. Girl Scouts will be greeted by older Girl Scouts and receive their Golden Gate Bridging pin. Participants will then continue down the hill toward the celebration at Crissy Field.
The walk from Marin Vista Point to Crissy Field is approximately 2.6 miles and typically takes about one hour at a steady pace without stopping. Once you cross the bridge, the path leading down to Crissy Field is mostly downhill.
We strongly recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes and preparing for the event by taking practice walks ahead of time.
Crissy Field
Once you arrive at Crissy Field, there are a variety of ways to celebrate. Enjoy lunch in the grassy picnic area, complete a craft project, dance along with music, and explore activity booths organized into themed villages. Activities at Crissy Field are self-paced, allowing participants to arrive and depart at their convenience.
Lunch
Boxed lunches are available for pre-purchase during registration. Lunches must be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Crissy Field in the Recharge Village.
If you do not purchase a boxed lunch, we recommend bringing a bagged lunch and plenty of snacks. Please bring a reusable water bottle.
Departure
All participants must walk to the Stilwell Hall Parking Lot, located next to Crissy Field, for departure.
Charter buses will transport participants from Stilwell Hall Parking Lot back to their original starting locations:
- Palace of Fine Arts Parking Lot
- Marina Middle School
- Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf
- Bothin Hostel
Merchandise and Apparel
T-shirts, hats, and hoodies will be available to order online in advance of the event.
Ordering in advance is recommended to guarantee sizing.

Eligibility & Participation
Can my bridging Daisy, Brownie, Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador troop participate?
This event is for 5th-grade bridging Juniors and 6th–12th grade Girl Scouts, including those whose bridging year occurred when Golden Gate Bridging was not offered or who were unable to attend during their bridging year for other reasons.
Daisy and Brownie troops are not eligible to bridge at this event. Daisies and Brownies are encouraged to attend the San Francisco Zoo Bridging Event on May 15, 2027.
Cadette, Senior, and Ambassador troops who are not bridging may have the opportunity to participate as volunteers.
Is this a family event? Can my younger child or infant attend?
Golden Gate Bridging is a family event.
Families and siblings may participate through Field Only registration. Younger children and infants may attend with an adult who is responsible for their supervision.
Can I volunteer for the event and also participate?
No. Event volunteers cannot also participate as attendees.

GSNorCal members can activate their ActiveNet accounts using the ActiveNet account instructions.
Out-of-council members will need to request an ActiveNet account before registering.
What are the different registration options?
Bridge + Field includes shuttle service to Marin Vista Point, the bridge crossing, the Golden Gate Bridging pin and patch, and the Crissy Field celebration.
Field Only provides access to the Crissy Field festivities and does not include shuttle service to Marin Vista Point, the bridge walk, or the Golden Gate Bridging pin and patch.

Can I transfer my registration or badge to someone else?
No. Registrations and Golden Gate Bridging badges are non-transferable and may only be used by the person registered.
What if I lose my badge?
Your badge serves as proof of registration and grants access to participate in the event.
Participants who lose their badge will be required to repay the event fee to receive a new badge and continue with the event.
Why is there different pricing for in-council and out-of-council participants?
Golden Gate Bridging is a large, labor-intensive event with significant operational costs. GSNorCal is excited to offer this event to Girl Scouts nationwide.
Event Logistics
How long is the walk from Marin Vista Point to Crissy Field?
The walk is approximately 2.6 miles and typically takes around one hour at a steady pace without stopping.
Once you cross the bridge, the path leading down to Crissy Field is mostly downhill.
We strongly recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes.
What will the weather be like?
Mornings at the Golden Gate Bridge are typically cool and often foggy or overcast, with temperatures warming if the fog clears by midday.
We recommend dressing in layers so you are comfortable throughout the day.
Can our troop walk with banners on the bridge?
No. Banners are prohibited by the Golden Gate Bridge District and Authority.
I use a wheelchair. Can I still cross the bridge?
Yes. The Golden Gate Bridge itself is ADA accessible, and participants using wheelchairs are welcome to cross the bridge.
The path from the south end of the bridge down to Crissy Field is not ADA compliant. Accessible transportation options will be available for participants who use wheelchairs or have limited mobility.
Please indicate your needs in the “Health Restrictions & Accessibility” field during registration.
Will there be security at the event?
Yes. The Golden Gate Bridge, National Park Service, and Presidio will monitor the event. The California Highway Patrol and San Francisco Emergency Services will also be notified in advance.
Additional private security will be on site.
Is the bridge shut down to cars on the day of the event?
No. The bridge remains open to vehicle traffic during the event.
The east side of the bridge has a 10-foot pedestrian sidewalk separated from traffic by a fence.
Is there a place to buy food at the event?
Boxed lunches will be available for participants who purchase them in advance through registration.
If you are not purchasing lunch through event registration, we recommend bringing a bagged lunch and plenty of snacks.
Please bring a reusable water bottle.

Where should we stay?
There are many lodging options in San Francisco, from hotels to vacation rentals.
A discounted rate is available for Golden Gate Bridging attendees at the Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf. Reservations must be made by March 28, 2027, and are subject to availability.
GSNorCal members may also register for the hostel-style lodging experience at Camp Bothin.
We recommend waiting until you have successfully registered for Golden Gate Bridging before booking travel or accommodations.
Cancellation & Refund Policy
A full refund will be issued if you cancel your registration on or before April 1, 2027.
No refunds will be issued for cancellations 29 days or less before the event or for non-attendance.
Refunds for medical reasons must be submitted in writing to registration@gsnorcal.org. A physician’s note must be submitted within seven days of the event in order to process the refund.
