Training
Troop Cookie Chair Training will be available December 1 in gsLearn to volunteers who are properly rostered as Troop Cookie Chairs. If you are, training will appear on your dashboard in gsLearn. If you are having trouble locating it, make sure to check both the “Not Started” and the “In-Progress” tab.
The training will appear in the “In-Progress” tab if you have already completed Mandated Reporter training. You must complete either the 636 New Troop Cookie Chair 2026 or 636 Experienced Troop Cookie Chair 2026 based on your experience with the cookie program.
*Please note you may need to complete the 636 GSNorCal Mandated Reporter Annual Acknowledgment this year. This is just an electronic signature, and it takes a minute to complete
Once your Troop Cookie Chair Training is complete, including the survey, you will be granted access to Smart Cookies beginning January 5.
Uploads to Smart Cookies will happen daily January 5-12 and will continue to happen every Tuesday and Thursday thereafter. You must complete training before 12pm the day prior to upload, in order to be uploaded on Tuesday or Thursday (If you complete training Monday before noon, you will be uploaded by Tuesday EOD).
If you need help with getting properly rostered contact our main line at 800-447-4475, or email us at info@gsnorcal.org and request support from customer service. You can also visit the article Where can I access my Cookie Training? for instructions on updating or role in MyGS.
Training Not Registering?
If you completed training, and it is not registering, do not retake training, contact onlinelearning@gsnorcal.org. Verify your training completion in gsLearn via the Achievements tab.
If you complete training and decide to revisit a module, select REVIEW CONTENT, do not click START OVER.

When the module tells you to click “Next” its referring to the next button in the module at the bottom of the screen (see orange arrow). Do not click “Next Module” in the green gsLearn banner, as it will skip the current training you are in and take you to the next one, leaving the current training incomplete. Click the next button at the bottom of the screen to go to the next slide within the current training.

Experiencing issues with training not loading?
| Some volunteers may notice brief delays or loading hiccups while completing Cookie Program training—especially around release dates and deadlines when lots of folks are logged in at once. The good news: there’s no issue with the training, and your progress isn’t lost. This is usually just a temporary slowdown due to high traffic or individual internet/device bandwidth. A few things that can sometimes impact performance include time of day and household internet use (for example, if others in your home are streaming, gaming, or on video calls at the same time). If things feel slow, these tips often help: • Close extra browser tabs • Clear your cache or try a different browser • Log out, wait a few minutes, and log back in • Step away and come back later if you can Pro Tip: clicking repeatedly can actually slow things down while the system catches up. In many cases, logging out and returning later is the quickest fix. If you are experiencing issues with your completions registering, please pause and reach out to the Entrepreneurship Program Team at info@gsnorcal.org. We truly appreciate your patience and the time you’re giving to support Girl Scouts. We are one council, one mission, and this program wouldn’t be possible without you. Thank you for all you do! |

Care to Share
Care to Share is a community give-back project where entrepreneurs collect monetary donations toward the purchase of cookie packages for local organizations, such as food banks, military organizations, or hometown heroes. The council purchases the items to donate and distribute at the end of the program.

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is more than just selling cookies—it’s about building confidence, developing business skills, and empowering girls to become young entrepreneurs. This toolkit is designed to help you promote your cookie sales, spread the word in your community, and maximize your success.
Use these essential marketing resources, whether you’re hosting a booth sale or selling door-to-door, these materials will help you share the Girl Scout mission and make this cookie season the best one yet! (These materials along with ideas on how to use them can be found the in the “Marketing” section of the Troop Cookie Chair Guide).

Program Updates
If we have any updates to communicate during the Cookie Program, we will list them here!
Program, Material, and Resource Updates
Risk Free Week! March 9–15
To help troops finish strong, full, unopened cases checked out March 9–15 is 100% returnable. All returns must be completed by March 18. There is no cap on checkout quantities; however, as One Council, One Mission, please take only what you reasonably expect to sell so inventory remains available for all troops. All standard return policies apply, review the Cupboard section of the Troop Guide for full details on returns. Thank you for managing inventory responsibly as we close out the season together.
Care to Share Match Day – March 12
On Girl Scouts’ Birthday, March 12, Girl Scouts of Northern California will match all Care to Share donations made through the Digital Cookie app or the Girl Scout’s Digital Storefront. This includes digital payment (credit card, Venmo, PayPal) or cash processed through Digital Cookie App to qualify for the match. Council must be able to track the order in Digital Cookie. Care to Share donations provide cookie packages to local food banks, military service members, and hometown heroes. Encourage customers to donate online on March 12 to double their impact.
*Booth Reminders*
During cookie booth season, it’s a good time to make sure your troop is prepared for potential unexpected occurrences. The safety and security of our members is the highest priority, and we want your booth experience to be a positive one. Please find details here.
Girl Scouts may only sell within council boundaries, so please review the council map before requesting locations. Your Service Unit Booth Coordinator approves booths to help confirm locations fall within those boundaries and can be scheduled for the Girl Scout Cookie Program.
Resource Updates
- New Sales Resource – Pitch Like a Cookie Boss! Have you sold to all your regular cookie customers? Looking for a new strategy to boost sales? GSNorCal is excited to present the Girl Scout Cookie Business Pitch Tip Sheet. This sheet outlines 6 simple steps to approach local businesses with the opportunity to buy Girl Scout cookies! Print out the resource or have it ready on your smart phone to level up your cookie sales!
- There have been recent updates to the How the Cookie Crumbles flyer, which is not reflected in the Troop Guide.
- The ACH Credit Form Due by 9am March 25 and the Final ACH 100% of amount due to council (includes any reward charges) due March 27. There is a discrepancy in the program calendar found in the Troop and Service Unit Guides.
- The Reward Structure insert has been updated. At the 13 AP and 16 AP levels, council credit is not offered, as these levels are experiential. The overall rewards program has not changed—only the images at 13 AP and 16 AP were updated. The Reward Structure insert in the troop guide will not be updated; however, a link to the updated version is available on the Cookie Program Resources page. Thank you for helping share accurate information with families.
Digital Cookie
Digital Cookie Welcome Emails are sent out January 5th. The link will be good for only 7 days, then it will expire. The best thing to do is select password reset and a new link will generate and be emailed to you. You can contact Digital Cookie for support, but this will take longer, so it’s recommended to reset your password, to prevent further delay.
Have your customers expressed issues at checkout on the Digital Cookie Mobile App? Here are some possible issues and how to guide customers to a successful order.
- How did they get the link? If they clicked on the GS link from a social media account they should open the link in their mobile phone browser not through the social media browser.
- Are they receiving an error message? If so, they should double check the billing information. Card number, CVV, billing name and address to check that the information in Digital Cookie is the same to what their card company has on file for me.
- Submit Order button is grey. This is because they missed a step and/or did not hit continue after each step in the check out process.
If these three things don’t help the customers, then I recommend having them reach out to us to trouble shoot more.
Smart Cookies
Having trouble seeing cupboard information or other details in Smart Cookies?
The Smart Cookies interface is wide, which can make some tools or information hard to see on your screen.
To fix this, try adjusting the zoom on your browser view:
- Click anywhere on the Smart Cookies page.
- Hold Ctrl and press – (minus) on your keyboard to zoom out.
This will allow more of the page to fit on your screen and make all tools visible. Keyboard controls may be different for Mac.
